"But we just can't afford to both be on strike, despite how I feel inside, and that guilt knowing my colleagues are taking a hit in their wages to help me." "I feel incredibly guilty coming into school today", she told Sky News. They've both joined the picket line in the past but now have to take it in turns. That's because some teachers here, like Mandy Nicolaou, can no longer afford to strike. Three year groups are absent because of the strike, but it's not as many as during previous walkouts. I invite you to join me on my quest to make the world a better place for all of them. The hallways and playground are much quieter than usual at St Anne's and Guardian Angels primary school in east London. I believe that through education and awareness of natural animal health we can drastically improve their quality of life and longevity. I am passionate about delivering safe and effective health care to all animals but horses and dogs have a special place in my heart. I am an animal lover, health consultant, scientist and educator. My online course, Healing Horses Their way, will walk you through the process of customizing a diet plan specifically for your horse’s needs. However, horses are not anatomically designed to metabolize large amounts of protein. High protein feeds, including alfalfa hay, should ONLY be fed when required as a supplement to improve protein levels but should never be used as a primary staple or to replace grass hay. However, you cannot replace fibre with protein! Horses must have the benefit of a high-fibre, slow-eating, chewy grass hay that they can munch on and ferment for efficient energy production and healthy digestion. There are many benefits to feeding alfalfa to horses especially if they are protein deficient or they have higher requirements such as performance horses and seniors. It can also benefit performance horses whose blood sugar is fluctuating due to increased physical demands. This can make it a useful dietary addition to the feed for metabolic horses if they can tolerate it. Alfalfa helps slow down sugar absorption into the blood. It contains high levels of calcium, as well as magnesium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, lysine, vitamin C, vitamin K, and folic acid. It is also necessary for the production of enzymes, hormones, and antibodies. Protein is essential for both the growth and repair of muscles, bone, cartilage, skin, hair, and blood. Alfalfa is a high protein forage, so it makes an excellent supplement for horses that are protein deficient or for horses that have higher protein requirements such as senior horses or pregnant or lactating mares.THREE BENEFITS OF FEEDING ALFALFA TO HORSES: In addition, alfalfa can overstimulate the pituitary gland. If there is not enough calcium available, the body will remove calcium from the bones, joints, and muscles. Too much alfalfa requires a lot of calcium to buffer the acidic metabolites from protein metabolism. In fact, some horses are so sensitive to alfalfa they cannot tolerate even small amounts. They may get “hot”, anxious or agitated, or show signs of liver or kidney stress. Horses that are on high protein diets become overly acidic which can cause inflammation in various body systems including the joints and hooves. This can contribute to leaky gut and will create too much ammonia which is toxic to the liver and kidneys if accumulated in excess amounts. Feeding more protein than your horse requires can result in gastric indigestion as well as fermentation and putrefaction in the hindgut.THREE RISKS OF FEEDING TOO MUCH ALFALFA TO HORSES: Now, let’s consider the risks and the benefits of feeding alfalfa… This indigestible fibre combined with high protein means that it is not a very efficient source of energy, but it can be used for its nutritional benefits as well as a protein supplement. As well, it is largely made up of a form of fiber called lignin which is not digestible. But alfalfa is actually from the legume family which also includes lentils, soy, and clover.Īlfalfa contains anywhere from 14% protein on the low end to a whopping 25% or more protein for dairy grade. Is alfalfa a suitable choice for extra calories in the winter? Will it help their horses put on weight? Will it increase performance by providing more energy and building muscle? Can it be used as a replacement for hay?īecause alfalfa is considered as a type of forage many people think it is also a type of grass. A lot of questions and comments have been coming in lately about whether horse owners should be feeding alfalfa to their horses… Might be worth a shot to email and see if you can still grab one for $50. Just the other day they had a 24 hour special on them and were selling every Backstryke model for $50. My old Yes! Blade putter seemed to feel as though the face twisted at impact if I didn't hit it perfectly, but not this thing.Ĭheck out Rock Bottom Golf. It's extremely easy to align on short putts and the face just seems to set square and stays stable through the strike. Finally took it out to the putting green and continued to make everything I looked at so I went in and talked them down on price and got it.Įverything in golf can change quickly and who knows, I may not like this thing in a year or so, but I have the same thoughts as you. This went on for a few days indoors and I liked it more and more each day. I usually don't put much thought into it when I make everything with a putter at a golf store. I think I putted for ten minutes or so with it and made everything I looked at inside. I know indoors, it seems you make everything you look at and this was no different. I really love it I would pick one up if I could find it cheap just to try it on the course instead of some crappy putting green inside. It just sets up really nice for me I think and it just seems i'm able to keep it more steady throughout my swing resulting in nice sold contact hits that go exactly where I intend it to go. I remembered this thread and picked one up and started to putt with it and MAN I really want to try it outside on the course. It's funny because a couple days after I read this thread I was walking around a golf store about 30 miles from my hometown and I had seen a backstryke putter aswell as other putters with the same setup. Force yourself to get over the initial impression based on looks and give it a try. Just thought I'd recommend it to anyone on the market for a new putter. This is hardly scientific proof of superiority of this putter and we all know how quickly things can change in golf, but at least for now, I have zero plans to change putters. I can't tell you the last time I had anything below 30 in a round, let alone two in a row. So far I've used it for two rounds and had 26 putts the first round and 28 the second. That's the theory behind it for me it seems to be legit because I do feel as though this putter is much easier to align to my intended target. With other putters, the shaft typically covers a portion of the face making it more difficult to align squarely to your target. That's the whole reason for the shaft design. The putter is designed to not impair your view of the face at address. The face set square at address with no twisting open or closed, hand position because of the unique shaft felt great and impact had a nice "ting" sound which I kind of liked (seemed better than the "thud" of the other models I tried). I picked it up and tried it I had tried everything else, so why not? To my surprise the putter set up really nice. I mean, who does that, right? Fast forward to when I get back after vacation, my local driving range had a used (but like new condition) 2-Ball Backstryke sitting there. They had a lot of different Odyssey Backstryke models which I never even took off the shelf because of the whole shaft being in the back of the clubhead thing. I went and probably tried 50 different putters, none of which I was in love with. I recently went on vacation in Florida and a Golf Galaxy was nearby. It's impossible to make a confident stroke this way. I would address the ball on the green and always feel as though my putter face was open or closed and try to adjust from there on the fly on each green and it just ends in me not making many putts. My stroke is actually decent, but I've always struggled with getting my putter face aligned correctly. I've bee struggling with putting for a couple years. I mean, a shaft that's connected to the back of the putter head? No thanks! I know these putters have been out for a while and if you're like me, you haven't even been interested in trying them based on looks alone. Raise a ticket or mail us on our official id. How often do you get dressed up to go out? Or do you spend most of your leisure time in relaxed outdoorsy styles? If you work in a uniform, you don’t need to worry about workwear. You need to have enough outfits to get you through the working week, and a range of outfits to suit the social events and leisure activities you get up to.Ĭonsider everything you wear during a typical week. This should be enough to keep you going until laundry day, without limiting your outfit choices too much.Īfter the clear out, you need to work out which outfits and clothing types are going to be most appropriate for your day to day lifestyle. Typically, that means having enough pieces to see you through every day of the week: we’d recommend a minimum of 8 tops (including t-shirts, shirts, and jumpers), 3 pairs of trousers, a couple of jackets, plus a few accessories to top everything off. There’s no set amount of clothing needed to start a capsule wardrobe: how much you need will depend on your day-to-day activities, and the sort of things you like to wear. But that doesn’t mean you can’t add few touches of personality here and there - just ensure that each piece is versatile enough to be worn with several different outfits. Versatility is key, meaning that classic styles, timeless fabrics, and neutral or plain block colours are usually the foundation of a capsule wardrobe. That means that every item or accessory in your wardrobe should be something you can wear with several different outfits. A capsule wardrobe is a streamlined collection of carefully chosen clothing that can be mixed and matched to create a stylish outfit for every occasion. It's one thing to have one of the world's best-known golf course architects on hand for the opening - or, as the case has often been over the last decade, reopening - of a golf course.īut when someone of Tom Fazio's stature shows up to cut the ribbon on a new practice facility at an existing golf course, certain expectations come along with the occasion. "Find what's freely given," she offers, "Real love'll come to you." The song's final minutes unspool patiently as Williamson sings the chorus - "got a hurricane in my heart for you," she belts, unashamed - then turns it over to an instrumental outro, letting the saxophones have the last word, confident that she's said all she needs to say.ORLANDO, Fla. "Roads," the last track, is an ode to letting love come to you, rather than chasing it. Williamson demoed many of these songs against an iPhone app drum machine, and in the studio, Cook encouraged her to keep it - a steadying, mechanical heartbeat alongside the album's earthy steel guitar and banjo.ĭespite the heartache, Time Ain't Accidental both opens and closes with songs about new love. The instrumentation feels considered and understated, drawing focus to Williamson's resonant voice. There's a sense of spaciousness on the record, afforded by Williamson's newfound perspective and production courtesy of Brad Cook (who also worked with Williamson on the record she and Waxahatchee's Katie Crutchfield released as Plains). "You've been chasing spirits / and I'm still chasing them lights," she sings on "Chasing Spirits," before dropping a pointed rhetorical question: "Now who is a bigger mystic / and who's winning a bar fight?" And while her portrayals of sorrow are brutal, her subtle scorn burns even brighter - the work of a woman who knows that a classic Texan "bless your heart" will cut an enemy deeper than rage ever could. On songs like "Tobacco Two Step" or "God in Everything," there's a forceful, raw earnestness in the way she sings. In the chorus of "Hunter," you can hear that breathy quality in Williamson's voice - but it's double-tracked with a more natural, conversational delivery that makes her sound self-assured, unshakeable. "In the past I tried to make myself seem like I wasn't trying too hard," she told The Guardian - she figured that being too bold in her music would be "grating," that her voice needed to "be sexy or breathy." Listening to Time Ain't Accidental, it's clear she's put that belief behind her. Williamson also depicts the ways she would diminish herself in that previous relationship: "How I did accommodate and get so small," she recalls on "A Few Seasons." She's said in interviews, too, that she felt that pressure in the way she made her music. On "I'd Come To Your Call," the first song she wrote for the record, she begs, "Baby don't leave me." On "A Few Seasons," she mourns, "Our life and our love slowly slipped away. Traces of that heartbreak are all over Time Ain't Accidental. Around the same time, her longtime romantic partner and musical collaborator left her and their shared home in Los Angeles. In early 2020, Williamson was preparing to release her fourth studio record, Sorceress, and tour the country - plans entirely upended by a global pandemic. The universe has served Williamson a series of strange turns in recent years. As she proclaims on the standout track "Hunter," she's "a hunter for the real thing," swayed only by the cosmic timing of the universe. On the record's 11 songs of vividly detailed, windswept alt-country, she's reeling from the aftermath of a breakup, stifled by the isolation of the pandemic, driving on country highways, dating in Los Angeles and finding new love in Marfa, Texas. She's said the album title comes from learning to "trust that things are working out as they're meant to," even when life isn't unfolding as she'd planned. On Time Ain't Accidental, Jess Williamson's fifth studio album, the Texas-born, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter is chasing both liberation and certainty.
